Briggs expressed his desire to fight Wilder

The fight between two former world champions could take place in 2025

Former World Heavyweight Champion Shannon Briggs (60-1-6, 53 KO) announced his return to the ring and his desire to fight another ex-world champion Deontay Wilder (43-4-1, 42 KO).

“I’d like Wilder to stop for a second and look at the competitive environment he’s in right now. He needs to regain his positivity and confidence. I want to fight him. “I think it’s going to be a great fight in Alabama, his comeback and mine.”

“I didn’t actually retire, they just don’t fight me. I think I’ll fight in March, and if he wants to fight, we’ll fight. I’ll fight anyone. I was scheduled to fight Quinton Jackson, but he got scared.”

Briggs, 52, fought his last professional fight more than five years ago. In 2010, Shannon fought Vitali Klitschko, but lost to the Ukrainian by unanimous decision.

Wilder suffered his fourth career loss in his last fight against Zhang Zhilei. Before the Zhang fight, Wilder also lost to Parker in December 2023. After the defeat from Zhilei, the American seriously thought about retiring from his career. At the same time, Oleksandr Usyk believes that Deontay Wilder may still have at least one serious fight.
