Fight this December is ‘highly unlikely’
Head of Top Rank Bob Arum announced that the fight between the WBC champion Tyson Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs) and WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight title holder Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) can hold February 11 or 18 in the Middle East.
According to Bob Arum, a fight between Fury and Usyk is “highly unlikely” in December, and is instead expected on February 11 or 18.
He added that the Middle East is the most likely location for the fight. It doesn’t have to be Saudi Arabia, though. The fight is also claimed by Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
Usyk’s manager, Egis Klimas, said that the battle between the Ukrainian and Fury could be held at the end of this or early next year in the Middle East.
Fury had previously instructed his promoters to inform the World Boxing Council that he was not going to vacate the title and retire.
Recall that Fury is demanding $ 500 million for a unification fight with Usyk. Fury also said that he gives a period of seven days to all interested people who want to organize his fight with Usyk. Otherwise, Tyson will not return to the ring.
Earlier, Usyk’s promoter, Alexander Krasyuk, denied that the fight with Fury would be held on December 17 in Saudi Arabia. According to him, negotiations are ongoing.
Immediately after the rematch victory over Joshua Usyk called out WBC champion Tyson Fury to fight. Following the results of all twelve rounds, Usyk defeated Joshua by a split decision of the judges.
