American hopes to fight Oleksandr Usyk in the future
Former World Heavyweight Champion Andy Ruiz (34-2, 22 KOs) stated that his future opponent Luis Ortiz (33-2, 28 KOs) necessary in order to prepare a resume for the highest level fights.
“We chose Luis Ortiz because he really is in the top 10. We wanted our resume to say that we beat him and are now ready to fight at another level, like Oleksandr Usyk or another big heavyweight fight. This is a great opportunity.”
The Ortiz fight will be Ruiz’s first in 15 months. Last May, Andy defeated Chris Arreola via unanimous decision.
Earlier, the American said that in the future he wants to fight with the Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk. Ruiz thinks a fight between the two would be “amazing”.
In December 2019, Ruiz lost to Anthony Joshua and lost his WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO heavyweight titles, which he won in his first fight with the Briton.
Ortiz last fought in January 2022, defeating Charles Martin by TKO in the sixth round. Louis is a former WBC heavyweight title challenger. In the championship fights, the Cuban lost twice to Deontay Wilder.
