Haney ready to fight Lomachenko if both fighters beat their closest rivals

Ukrainian on October 29 will fight with Jamain Ortiz, American – with George Kambosos on October 16

Promoter Bob Arum said that he talked with the undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney and his father regarding the duel with the Ukrainian Vasily Lomachenko. According to the promoter, the fight is possible if both boxers defeat their closest rivals.

“If Lomachenko beats Ortiz, I hope to fight the winner of the Haney-Kambosos fight. I didn’t talk to the Kambosos people, but I did talk to Davin and Bill Haney. They both want this fight.”

The Ukrainian boxer will return to the ring on October 29. Lomachenko’s fight with Jamaine Ortiz will take place at the Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden in New York.

Arum has already expressed his desire to organize a fight between Vasily and undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney. The American will have a rematch with former champion George Kambosos Jr. on the night of October 16 at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia.

Lomachenko had his last fight in December last year, defeating Richard Commey by unanimous decision. Subsequently, Vasily could fight with Kambosos, but refused it against the backdrop of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.
