Fury-Joshua fight could take place at the end of the year
Malik Scotthead coach of former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wildergives Anthony Joshua chances of winning a potential WBC title fight with Tyson Fury.
“This is a great time for AJ to take on Fury. I think Josh has something to prove. He can beat Fury.”
“It will be a tough job for Anthony, but in my opinion he has the breed, he has the Olympic gold medal, he has the ability. AJ can punch, he’s a strong guy. He is big. When you think about all these qualities, you find yourself thinking, is this really Joshua? Personally, I think people who don’t give him a chance at all are crazy.”
“Fury was on fire. He kicked everyone out of the ring. Yes, but he also became more vulnerable than ever. He is very vulnerable as a fighter and that makes the upcoming fight even more exciting.”
Recall that Joshua was in 6th place in the updated WBC rankings. The rating allows the WBC to recognize Joshua as a voluntary challenger for Tyson Fury’s championship belt.
Fury twice reached out to Joshua via social media and offered him a fight. Anthony accepted Fury’s offer.
Joshua also agrees to a 60/40 distribution of the fee to the reigning world champion.
Joshua lost in a rematch for the WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight title to Oleksandr Usyk. Following the results of all twelve rounds, Alexander defeated Joshua by a split decision: 115-113, 116-112 and 113-115.
