BIIU Commission drops charges against International Boxing Association President Kremlev in election violation case

The Interim Nominating Board of the Independent Boxing Integrity Unit (BIIU) has dropped all charges against the current President of the International Boxing Association (IBA) Oumar Kremleva in case of violation during the election of the head of the organization. This was reported by the IBA press service.

— The BIU Interim Nominating Team received three complaints regarding some of the actions allegedly taken by various individuals, including members of IBA Headquarters, during the election period. According to the complaints, these actions were taken in favor of the candidate Umar Kremlev.

The BIIU Provisional Appointment Group filed a complaint against Umar Kremlev based on Art. 25.1.11, 25.15 and 25.2 Convention and election regulations.

On September 22, 2022, after a thorough review of all available documents and information, the BIIU Interim Appointments Panel decided to drop all charges against Umar Kremlev, according to the statement.

The Russian was re-elected IBA President on May 14. Kremlev remained the sole candidate for the post after his rival, Dutchman Boris van der First, was eliminated from the election.

After that, van der First appealed his suspension to the Court of Arbitration for Sport and won. Kremlev proposed in June that a re-election of the IBA president should take place.
