The tournament operator has been criticized for inviting the Russian roster
Tournament Operator WePlay Esports ruled out Russian team outlaws [молодежный состав Virtus.pro по CS:GO] from the fourth season WePlay Academy League.
The decision to exclude the Outlaws came after WePlay Esports was criticized by the esports community for inviting a Russian team to their tournament during Russia’s war against Ukraine.
“We are excluding the Outlaws team from the WePlay Academy League esports league. We apologize – we admit our guilt and understand your indignation at the situation. Our team does not have any contracts with organizations from the Russian Federation, and the management will continue to adhere to this position,” WePlay Esports said in a statement.
Fourth season of WePlay Academy League [турнир по CS:GO среди молодежных команд] will be held from May 24 to June 26. The prize fund is 100 thousand dollars.
Early on the morning of February 24, Russia launched rocket attacks on Ukrainian cities, and then launched a large-scale invasion. Ukrainian resistance to Russian military aggression continues for the 86th day.
