In Moscow, on the territory of the VK Play Arena, on September 6, a press conference was held dedicated to the start of the championship of engineering teams – “Robot Battle”. As part of the event, Maksut Shadayev, head of the Ministry of Digital Development, and Igor Stolyarov, head of the Future Games project, announced the superfinal of the Robot Battle Championship within the framework of the international Future Games tournament.
“We are launching the first Robot Battle Championship, which takes place in the Future Games block, a very large and promising new format,” said Maksut Shadayev. “It will be spectacular and should draw the attention of young people, technology companies and universities to robotics.”
It should be noted that one of the Russian technological giants, VK, has been supporting the Games of the Future project from the very beginning. Thanks to this partnership, the series of test competitions of the Figital Games took place at a high professional level.
“Today we announce that the logical continuation of the two semi-finals and the final of the Battle of the Robots will be the international super final in Kazan within the framework of the Future Games. We have set ourselves an ambitious and serious goal: to win the world robot battle championship at a very high level. We will show the world community how in Russia you can organize major international sporting events in the form of a mega-show! — said Igor Stolyarov.
The championship meets all the main criteria of the Games of the Future project: manufacturability, innovation, scale and versatility. 256 experienced teams and more than 2,000 athletes from different countries will compete in 16 innovative Future Games disciplines. Athletes from more than 130 cross-border teams representing around four dozen countries have already shown their skills at the qualifying tournaments, which will take place in Kazan from February 23 to March 3, 2024.
The press conference was also attended by VK CEO Vladimir Kiriyenko, Yadro and OFFICE 1440 CEO Alexei Shelobkov, as well as the CEO of Robot Battle Championship operator Double Yu Expo company Alexei Yuzhakov.
The head of the Ministry of Digital Development noted that a total of 24 teams will participate in the Battle of Robots Championship, which will start now, including from India, Turkey and Kazakhstan. Two qualifying rounds are planned this year: the first will take place on September 16 at Crocus Expo, in the presence of the governor of the Moscow region Andrei Vorobyov. The second will take place on October 20 and 21 in Perm. At the end of the year, the final will take place in Moscow.
“Battle of the Robots” is a competition for innovations and technologies, designers and strategists. In the arena are robots (from small to large), controlled not only by inventors, but also by artificial intelligence.
The main requirements of the discipline: the robots must not weigh more than 110 kg, the dimensions must not exceed 120 cm in each of the planes (length, width, height), and the team must consist of 3 to 5 people .
The team that deactivates the opposing robot first wins the competition.
