The Danish journalist was forbidden to film live and covered the camera with his hand.
The World Cup has not yet started, but the tournament has already had its first scandal. As expected, this is related to a rights violation.
An unpleasant incident happened to the Danish journalist Rasmus Tantoldt. The reporter reports live from Doha from one of the venues of the upcoming championship.
This time the guards approached him with threats. The men tried to disrupt the broadcast and threatened to break the camera. Even the accreditation issued by the organizers and the explanation that he was a journalist did not help the Scandinavian. Security still tried to remove the film crew.
Tantoldt later posted a video of the attack on his Twitter, where it quickly went viral. In the same post, the reporter confirmed that he had received an apology from the Qatar High Committee. But the journalist still asks if there are guarantees that this will not happen to other representatives of the world’s media.
We have now apologized from the Qatar International Media Office and from the Qatar Supreme Committee.
This is what happened when we were broadcasting live @tv2nyhederne from a round today in Doha. But will this also happen in other media? #FIFAWorldCupQatar2022 pic.twitter.com/NSJj50kLql— Rasmus Tantholdt TV2 (@RasmusTantholdt) November 15, 2022
“This is not a free and democratic country. My experience after visiting 110 countries around the world says: the more you have to hide, the harder it is to report from there,” said Tantoldt in an interview with the Norwegian channel NRK.
Remember that earlier the organizers published the official list of bans for everyone who wants to visit the 2022 World Cup.
