Ex-Russian national team football player Andrei Karyaka in a conversation with a correspondent, he explained who he would support at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The 2022 World Cup will take place in Qatar from November 20 to December 18.
– I will watch the World Cup as much as possible. Not all, of course, matches, but I will definitely watch something.
– Who can be described as a big favourite?
Brazilians, French, I think. Maybe Argentina and Germany will be a surprise.
– About the surprises: which team will be the main opener of the tournament?
– It’s hard to say. Probably, someone who is not among the best will definitely reach the quarterfinals.
– Who is your favorite footballer among those who will participate in the World Cup?
– There is no favorite as such, but I would like the two most outstanding footballers – Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi – to meet at some point. It would be very interesting to see their confrontation. I will be very happy if one of them wins the world championship.
– The most memorable World Cup?
– Of course, the one that took place in Russia. It is one of the most spectacular in the world, and the Russian team showed itself very well. For me, this is the most important championship. Maybe the 1994 World Cup too, but that’s only because of one game, when Italy lost (in the Brazil final on penalties – editor’s note) and Roberto Baggio didn’t scored the decisive goal.
