At the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, another scandal broke out.

Another scandal could erupt at the World Cup. This time it may be related to the captaincy of the players. Even before the start of the tournament, FIFA asked the captains of all the teams to promote various social initiatives like #SaveThePlanet, #ProtectChildren, #EducationForAll and #BeActive.

Some teams chose the #OneLove rainbow headband to promote the theme of the LGBT+ community. However, according to The Guardian, tournament organizers are on the road again.

As journalists have learned, players who wear such armbands may face an immediate warning. At the same time, British captain Harry Kane still announced his desire to wear a specific armband for the match against Iran.

“We made it clear as a team, staff and organization that we want to wear this armband,” the forward said at a press conference. “I know the Association is negotiating with FIFA and I’m sure they will make a decision on tomorrow’s match,” the player told a press conference.

German Football Federation president Bernd Neuendorf said Germany is ready to be fined if Manuel Neuer wears the rainbow headband against Japan. However, the DFB are concerned that their goalkeeper-captain may receive a yellow card for this.

Meanwhile, Netherlands captain Virgin van Dijk has revealed she will also wear the #OneLove headband, even if it results in a warning.

Recall that earlier the organizers of the competition forced FIFA to refuse to sell beer in stadiums, because of which the International Football Federation lost a multi-million dollar contract.
