Glyvinsky: UAF appealed to UEFA and FIFA to ban clubs from playing sparring with Russian teams

Clubs of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus – in the “ban” on the European and international arena

UAF press attache Oleksandr Glyvinskiy said that Football Association of Ukraine appealed to UEFA and FIFA with a call to ban test matches with the participation of Russian clubs.

During the winter break, a number of clubs are based in Turkey. According to Glyvinsky, who represents the official position of the UAF, the matches of Russian clubs are a “relaxation of the regime”, which is unacceptable at the moment.

“Although the games in Turkey have an unofficial status, we consider this a violation of the lockdown of Russian sports. Any representatives of the country do not have the right to participate in international events, including sports. Russia and its partner Belarus must be completely isolated.”

In February last year, FIFA and UEFA did not allow all Russian teams and clubs to participate in competitions under the auspices of organizations. The reason is the full-scale invasion of Russian troops into the territory of Ukraine.

Russia played its last match on November 14, 2021, losing to Croatia (0:1) in the group round match for the 2022 World Cup.

At the same time, UEFA plans to extend the suspension of Russian teams from international competitions. Russia also lost the right to host the UEFA Super Cup 2023. According to UAF President Andrei Pavelko, UEFA will begin to consider the issue of returning Russian football to the European arena after the end of hostilities.
