Arsenal lead the Premier League
Ukrainian defender of Arsenal Alexander Zinchenko commented victory over Aston Villa (4:2) in the 24th round of the championship of England and the participation of the team in Premier League championship race.
“Honestly, the game in the first half was not good enough, I was not happy at all. But in the second half we showed our character, showed that this team has balls. We are talking about the Premier League, it is the strongest league in the world and these games win with exactly the reaction that we showed in the second half.
“I remember at Man City we also lost at half-time, but in the second half the reaction of the team was perfect, and I would call such dramatic games – championship matches.”
“I’m not saying anything about the fight for the title yet because there are still many games ahead, but this is the behavior that we need, the direction we need, and this is the key to wins.”
“The quality is there, but we can’t stop. There are many things we need to improve, but if we work hard on ourselves, then we are on the right track.”
This season, 26-year-old Alexander has played 20 matches for the Gunners in all competitions. In the match with Aston Villa, the Ukrainian scored his debut goal for Arsenal, which also became the first goal in the Premier League. Also on account of the Ukrainian – one assist.
Arsenal broke a four-match streak without a win in all competitions. Mikel Arteta’s team is in first place in the standings, two points ahead of Manchester City.
In the next round on February 25, Arsenal will face Leicester away.
