The Ukrainian entered the field in the second half, but did not help the Blues avoid defeat
Ukrainian winger Mikhail Mudrik did not start Chelsea for the match with Southampton (0:1). According to The Telegraph, the head coach of the Blues Graham Potter left the Ukrainian on the bench on the recommendation of the medical staff.
Potter was advised by Chelsea doctors to keep Mudrik, Rhys James, Thiago Silva, Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz on the bench due to the risk of injury. For James, Silva, Mudrik and Havertz, the Southampton match would have been their third in a week, and Sterling recently returned to the general group after suffering an injury.
It is noted that the management of Chelsea appreciated Potter’s decision to put the interests and health of the players above his own ambitions.
In the match with Southampton, Mudrik entered the field in the middle of the second half, replacing Noni Madueke. In total, Mikhail spent five fights for Chelsea. The Ukrainian did not differ in effective actions.
Chelsea are 10th in the Premier League. Potter’s team will play Tottenham Hotspur on February 26th.
