Dnipro completed performances in European competitions
Mentor SC Dnepr-1 Oleksandr Kucher summed up the confrontation with AEK in 1/16 finals of the Conference League. The coach of the Ukrainian club complained about the weak implementation of scoring chances.
“What we planned, we basically did – we put pressure, constantly kept the opponent’s team under pressure, and we managed to cover them. Of course, I wanted to score a goal, and there were chances, we could have scored, but luck was on the side of AEK today.”
“Of course we want more. Of course, we all wanted to go further and please all the fans with European Cup games, but we understand that this is football and this is the result today. Of course, we need to leave Kosice. There are good people here who received us very well, and we thank them for their help in various moments, both in everyday life and in terms of football.”
“The point of football is that you have to score goals to win. Today we strived for this and I cannot reproach the guys for something in their desire – they wanted it and it was evident. But yes, we didn’t score and it’s very sad for us.”
“At Artyom’s [Довбика] damage, and we believe that by the next game he will be ready and we will be waiting for him. He’s the team leader and we need him. We also expect Adamyuk to be ready for the next match.”
According to the sum of two matches, the Dnipro team failed to pass AEK from Larnaca (0:1, 0:0). The winning goal was an accurate shot by Angel Garcia in the first meeting of the teams in Cyprus.
