With City v Bayern, Champions League quarterfinals are set

The draw for the Champions League quarterfinals was defined this Friday morning, the 17th, in Nyon, Switzerland, and with the right to great games

The quarterfinals of Champions League are defined this Friday, the 17th. With the right to City x Bayern, the biggest club competition in the world will kick off the next phase from the month of April. The first matches are scheduled to start between April 11th and 12th, while the return games will take place between the following dates: April 18th and 19th. That is, the classified teams will have a month to prepare themselves until the decisive matches of the Champions League.

The following clubs participated in the draw: Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Milan, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Benfica, Napoli, Manchester City. Of the teams that qualify for the Champions League quarter-finals, only Manchester City and Napoli have never won the European Championship title. To give you an idea, this will be the first time that the Italians will compete in the current phase of the Champions League.

While Napoli is trying to reach its first semifinal in history, Manchester City is looking to qualify for the big Champions League decision. Guardiola managed to take the team to the 2021 final, but saw Chelsea get the better of it and win the European championship. While some seek the unprecedented title, others want to extend their advantage.

This is the case of Real Madrid. The Spanish team is once again qualified for the quarterfinals and aims to further isolate itself as the greatest champion in the history of the Champions League. Since the 2013/14 season, the Merengues are on a great sequence of achievements and have already won five times over a period of nine years. The last time they won was last season against Liverpool.

How was the key?

The Champions League semifinals may have clashes between Italians and entitled to classics such as Inter Milan and Milan, Napoli and Inter Milan. That’s because the winners of the Inter Milan x Benfica and Milan x Napoli games fell in the same bracket. Meanwhile, on the other side of the bracket, Real Madrid v Chelsea and Manchester City v Bayern Munich will fight for a place in the final.

The clubs that advance to the semifinals will still have a month to prepare, as the clashes are to take place between the 9th and 17th of May. The decision, which will take place in Turkey, at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium, is scheduled for June 10.
