Current Libertadores champion, Dorival Júnior comments on the competition’s greater difficulty in 2023, and talks about the future, with surveys from abroad
Current Libertadores champion, coach dorival junior spoke about the group draw for this edition, defined on Monday night, the 27th. In an interview for “Gazeta Esportiva”, at an event in São Paulo, the former coach of Flamengo commented on greater difficulty this year, and on its future.
“My fans are for us to have a national decision again. I believe we have an even more difficult championship than the previous year, even more disputed, with even better prepared teams. Let’s wait, but the expectation is great“, said Dorival at the event.
Afterwards, the coach commented on what he has been doing during his sabbatical after Flamengo was fired at the beginning of the year. In addition to commenting that he followed the World Cup in the form of a study, the professional confirmed that he has been receiving surveys, including from outside the country.
“I haven’t had proposals so far, except from clubs abroad, which, for me, would be important. We ended up not finalizing it, but it could still happen. Internally, no. I had Asian teams and we are talking with some teams from the south -americanas that can work. Also (they are in the Libertadores)”, he added.
After winning the Libertadores and the Copa do Brasil last season, Dorival Júnior was fired from Flamengo, who hired Victor Pereira, and has been without a club ever since. With a low start to the season, the arrival of the coach was extremely important for the Rubro-Negro to win its third championship in the competition.
