At the end of February, Zenit’s Brazilian midfielders Malcolm and Claudinho received Russian citizenship by decree from President Vladimir Putin.
“I’m always happy when legionnaires get Russian citizenship. It’s great! For example, Malcolm, Claudinho and Promes are the strongest players in Russia right now. In general, naturalization of football players is very helpful for the development of football in the country and raising its level,” Ari said.
