“There is a great desire to develop and work for the benefit of Lokomotiv, but so far there is no place for me” – Sychev

Former Lokomotiv striker Dmitry Sichev who has a background in sports management, said he would like to put his skills into practice by helping the Moscow club, but there are no offers yet.

– I think that in addition to football experience, it is necessary to receive professional training in order to fully understand all the external and internal processes of the club. Understand current trends in the development of sport and football in particular. It can’t be learned on the football pitch, although we footballers would like to think otherwise. Well, to be honest, we have an abysmal lack of high quality sports managers with top football experience. An incredibly interesting and important program was based at the Higher School of Economics. This content of information, this teaching staff of the highest quality and the level of knowledge that has been given is only a warehouse for a sports director, especially in football.

As for work, we wait. There is a great desire to develop and work for the benefit of the club and Russian football. I would like to be useful, in any case, without the club connection. If an offer arrives, why not. But everyone has their own opinion. On the other hand, after all, I spent 11 years at Lokomotiv. I would like to help the club in a position, to be useful… But for the moment, “silence”, as they say. There is no place for me,” Sychev told Gazeta.Ru.

Sychev advocated “Locomotive” from 2004 to 2015. During this time, he played 265 games, scored 92 goals and made 37 assists. In December 2019, the athlete announced his retirement.
