Koeman: League of Nations is a trophy we can win

Koeman’s team will face Croatia in the semi-finals

Netherlands head coach Ronald Koeman commented on the upcoming semi-final match with Croatia in the Final Four of the League of Nations.

“We are looking forward to the match because it is a semi-final and we are playing in the Netherlands. We have a good team and we have a lot of energy to reach the final. But Croatia is a really strong team, they’ve had a lot of success in the last couple of years, so it’s going to be tough.”

“I have no doubts about the squad. Justin Beilo will be in goal. Usually I am not in favor of changing the goalkeeper because of a penalty. [если дело доходит до этого]so I don’t expect that to happen.”

“Modric? He is a fantastic football player with incredible experience and amazing insight. We want to deprive him of the opportunity to turn around and make the pass. But the entire Croatian midfield plays like a strong block.”

“This is a trophy we can win. He is in our country. But I heard that there will be a lot of Croatian fans in the stadium, so we need to see if it looks like a home advantage.”

The matches of the final tournament of the League of Nations will be held in the Dutch cities of Rotterdam and Enschede. The semi-final between Croatia and the Netherlands will take place today, June 14th. Spain and Italy will meet tomorrow. The match for third place and the final will take place on June 18.

The national team of Ukraine took second place in Group 1 of the League of Nations and remained in Division B.

In 2019, Portugal became the first winner of the Nations League. The current champion of the tournament is the French team, which won the trophy in 2021.
