The decision is connected with the undermining by the Russian invaders of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station and the disappearance of water for agricultural and household needs in the Nikopol district
Skoruk will officially miss the 2023/24 season in First League. As Sport Arena previously reported, the club will not play next season due to the Russian invaders blowing up the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station and the disappearance of water for agricultural and household needs in the Nikopol region.
“FC Skoruk is an agrarian team financed by the family of the president of the club Maksim Anatolievich Skoruk, and in connection with the blowing up of Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station by rashists, the land plots of the Nikopol region were left without water supply and do not have irrigation, as a result of which the owner of the club receives heavy losses every day. Until the last moment, the club’s management tried to resolve the issue with subsequent financing for the coming season, but, unfortunately, in the current situation, all attempts were unsuccessful. So that the Skoruk football club does not completely disappear, the club’s management decided to skip the season in the PFL First League 2023/24.
“In the 2023/24 season, FC Skoruk is left without an adult team, but the Skoruk youth football school will continue to work, where the entire coaching and administrative staff remains. Youth Sports School Skoruk this year will perform in two age categories at the level of DUFLU (Ukrainian championship) and DUFLDO (Dnepropetrovsk region championship).
“For their part, the club’s management will do everything to return to a professional level already in the 2024/25 season. We do not say goodbye, but say “goodbye” in order to return stronger in a year, because in order to jump forward, you need to scatter and step back, ”says the FC Skoruk statement.
Recall that on June 6, the Russian invaders blew up the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, which led to the flooding of settlements and an environmental disaster.
Skoruk finished second in the League One Elimination Group standings with 23 points.
