All players are ready for the next match
Head coach Ukrainian national team Sergey Rebrov answered questions from media representatives at a press conference the day before the match with North Macedonia national team qualifying for the 2024 European Championship.
“North Macedonia is the team that eliminated Italy in the World Cup qualifiers, so we take this game very seriously. We have to respect the opponent, but we have to think about our game. We need to analyze the mistakes that we made in the match against Germany.”
“I don’t think we are favorites for the upcoming match. We are playing away against a very strong team, we have to be concentrated. And already on the field we have to show that we are the favorites. I think it will be a different game compared to the match against Germany. We understand the strength of the North Macedonia national team, I expect a very tough game, but I am sure that our players are ready for it.”
Rebrov also spoke about the situation with the players of the youth team of Ukraine. The coach is confident in the readiness of each team player.
“We agreed that the youth team players will be used in two June matches. Therefore, they will be able to go to the location of the youth team after the game with Malta. Regarding Zabarny, he himself resolved this issue with the head coach Ruslan Rotan.
“I talked with Mikhail Mudrik, he is in a stable psychological state. Like other players, he represents our country. All players make mistakes, especially at a young age. We have three or four players who are not yet 21 years old. We support him, like the rest of the players, this is very important before tomorrow’s match.”
“Yes, some players have injuries. According to Mikolenko: now he feels good, he is preparing for the game. He has problems, but this does not apply to future matches. All the players are healthy and ready to play tomorrow.”
“Tsygankov? If a player can play in another position, fulfill the requirements, then he will play there. He entered the game well in his new position, he used his speed against Germany. We tried him in this position, it was an important match. We wanted to reveal players in other positions.”
Ukraine sits fourth in Group C after losing to England in the opening game of the 2024 UEFA Euro 2024 qualifiers. North Macedonia defeated Malta 2-1 in their first qualifying match.
The match between the Ukrainian national team and North Macedonia will be held on June 16 in Skopje at 21:45 Kyiv time.
