Champions League qualifier between clubs Israel and Malta called off due to aggressive behavior by fans

2023/24 Champions League first qualifying round first leg between Maccabi from Haifa and the Maltese “Hamrun Spartans” have been suspended for some time due to the aggressive behavior of the fans, journalist Martin Mazur writes on Twitter.

Supporters of the Israeli football club threw fireworks at the stands where the opponent’s supporters were.

“Maccabi” fans threw flares into the family sector of the stadium, where there were fans with children.

The match, which takes place in Malta, was interrupted for a while in the second half with the score 2:0 in favor of Maccabi. When the fans calmed down, the football match resumed.
