Head coach of Dnepr-1 – about a draw against Minay in the third round of the UPL
Head coach SC Dnepr-1 Oleksandr Kucher commented on his team’s draw against Minaya in the third round Ukrainian Premier League – 1:1.
“We understood that we would play against an opponent who would defend well, close and use counterattacks and set pieces. And so it happened. In the first half we had chances, and if we had scored then, then maybe it would have been easier later on. In the second half, there was a send-off right away and the guys were left with ten men, but I want to give them their due – they played well and tried to score a goal.
“We wanted to win today, and it was evident, but luck was not on our side. We could have scored again and first, but Minay scored his goal in the counterattack. It’s good that in this situation the guys did not give up, leveled the score, and then they could have scored in the end of the meeting. 1:1 seems to be a natural result.”
Recall that Dnepr-1 played a draw with Minai in a match with a penalty and two penalties. Vice-champion of Ukraine conceded a goal in the 89th minute, but managed to bounce back thanks to a goal from Domingo Blanco.
Dnipro-1 scored four points after two matches. Minai hasn’t lost in the new championship for the first time and has one point.
Oleksandr Kucher’s team will play the next match with Slavia in the Europa League qualification on August 17. Minay will play with Metallist 1925 on August 19.
