Head coach Minay talks about the draw against Dnipro-1 in the third round of the UPL
Head coach Minaya Vladimir Sharan commented on the draw of his team with Dnipro-1 in the third round match Ukrainian Premier League – 1:1.
“Before the game, I thought and told the guys about it, that it’s time for us to take points from the leaders of the championship. Because last season it so happened that points were not taken away from almost any of the leaders: neither from Shakhtar, nor from Dynamo, nor from Dnipro-1. Only with Zarya they took one ball.
“There was an unfortunate defeat at home against Dnepr-1 last year, the opponent then won due to the skill of Pikhalenok and Dovbik.”
“Today we understood that they would be tired after Prague, after moving. We understood this and wanted to show the game at our home stadium, we wanted to achieve a positive result. After all, this is the third game of the championship, so you need to try to score points with each team.”
“I think that a draw is a natural result. Dnepr-1 played with ten men, but at the same time we created few chances, we had good counterattacks, sometimes attacks were also successful, but there was no last pass. I think if there was Vishnevsky, perhaps we would have had more chances. But Yegor Tverdokhleb also worked a lot in the forward position, and he scored the ball.
“When the score was 1-0, of course we wanted to win. There were seven added minutes left, but they conceded an unfortunate goal. However, this is a draw, one point per table. With this, I congratulate the fans and the president of the club.”
Recall that Dnepr-1 played a draw with Minai in a match with a penalty and two penalties. Vice-champion of Ukraine conceded a goal in the 89th minute, but managed to bounce back thanks to a goal from Domingo Blanco.
Minai hasn’t lost in the new championship for the first time and has one point. Dnipro-1 scored four points after two matches.
The next match Minay will play with Metallist 1925 on August 19th.
