Chisora: I don’t believe Usyk vs Fury will ever happen

Alexander and Tyson fail to reach an agreement

British heavyweight Derek Chisora commented on the possible fight for the title of absolute world champion in heavyweight between the world champion according to WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO Oleksandr Usyk and WBC World Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury.

“I don’t believe Usyk vs Fury will ever take place. Filip Hrgovic is the mandatory contender for the IBF title. Usyk has a fight with Dubois, and after that Hrgovic will demand a mandatory defense with him, so I don’t think that the duel between Alexander and Tyson will take place.

“It seems to me that there are many boxers who are waiting for their chance at a mandatory belt defense. I don’t believe we will ever see this fight as Tyson will now fight Francis Ngannou.”

The unification fight between Usyk and Fury was scheduled for April 2023, but it did not take place. According to the Gypsy King, this happened because of the financial requirements of the Ukrainian.

Previously Usyk signed a contract with Skill Challenge Entertainment from Saudi Arabia. The Ukrainian believes that this cooperation will help organize the fight with Fury.

The promoter of the Ukrainian Oleksandr Krasyuk said that the duel between Usyk and Fury was planned for December 26. Now the new potential date for the face-to-face meeting between Tyson and Alexander is January 27, 2024. According to Usyk, his fight with the Briton “wants to see the whole world.”

The Briton will next fight former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou. The fight will take place on October 28 in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. The WBC granted Tyson a special permit to fight the former UFC champion.

The battle between Usyk and Dubois will take place on August 26 in Wroclaw, Poland, at the Tarczynski Arena. The championship fight will be shown by the MEGOGO media service.
