Daniel Alves’ defense pays R$800,000 and maximum sentence could be halved

According to ‘UOL’, the defense of Daniel Alves, a player accused of rape in Spain, paid compensation of R$800,000 and the maximum penalty could be halved

The defense of Daniel Alves, a player accused of rape in Spain, paid 150 thousand euros, around R$800 thousand at current prices, as compensation for “mitigating compensation for damage caused”. With this attitude, the right-back could have his maximum sentence reduced if convicted of the crime of sexual assault.

According to ‘UOL’, the deposit was made at the beginning of August by the lawyer Miraida Puente, who has been representing Daniel Alves since the beginning of the process. As the case was opened in January this year, the player had other representatives between February and September, such as Cristóbal Martellreplaced for Ines Guardiola.

According to Spain’s Penal Code, the payment of compensation is made to repair damage caused by your accusation. In this way, in the event of conviction, the amount allocated by the Brazilian’s defense would be allocated to the victim, immediately after the publication of the sentence. Furthermore, Daniel Alves would have a significant reduction in his maximum sentence.

The maximum penalty in a case of sexual assault in Spain is 12 years in prison. However, with the payment of this mitigating factor, which according to the local Penal Code cannot be rejected, the Brazilian’s prison period could be cut in half. Despite this, if the Spanish court judges that Daniel Alves did things that worsen the case, he could be sentenced to more than six years.
