Manchester City, owned by President Khaldoon Al Mubarak, was the first European sporting institution to show support for Palestine during the conflict with Israel
During the conflicts between Palestine and Israel, the Manchester City announced that he will take sides and must show support for the Palestinians. On this specific occasion, the decision was taken by the president of the English club, Khaldoon Al Mubarakborn in the United Arab Emirates, a country in the Middle East.
As seen in some videos circulated on the internet, according to the Argentine newspaper ‘Olé’, the Citizens leader participated in a massive donation campaign, which was organized to help the inhabitants of Gaza. Therefore, after demonstrating his position regarding the conflict that has been plaguing the Middle East, Al Mubarak positioned himself in favor of the Palestinians.
With this, the Arab became the first major sports authority from a European institution to demonstrate its support for Palestine. Even though the news may seem surprising, this was not the first time that Manchester City has supported this country. In 2021, the club even allowed one of its players to take an Olympic lap surrounded by a Palestinian flag.
