Pikhalenok: Every club that will play in European competition will protect the image of the country

On August 18 and 25, Dnipro will play the playoffs of the Europa League round

Midfielder SK Dnipro-1 Alexander Pikhalenok commented on the upcoming start of the season in the Ukrainian Premier League. The midfielder stressed that it would be difficult for his team to combine moves in the championship and European competitions.

“It will be hard. There is no final picture of the championship: how to play, how to move. It will be difficult to combine both European competitions and the championship. The level of international matches is much higher, and in order to show yourself worthy, you need to recover qualitatively. This component is very important.”

“Each club that will play in European competitions will represent Ukraine, will protect the image of the country. And this will be a good opportunity to remind people of what is happening in our country so that the war is not forgotten.”

Next season, Dnepr-1 will make its debut in European competition. On August 18 and 25, Dnipro will play the playoffs of the Europa League round. The opponent will be known after the draw on August 2.

It also became known that Dnepr-1 offered the head coach of Metalist Alexander Kucher to lead the team, and Yevgeny Krasnikov the position of the sports director of the club.

Dnipro-1 is looking for a new head coach in connection with the departure of Igor Jovicevich, who can lead Shakhtar. Last season, the Croatian-led team finished third in the Ukrainian Premier League and advanced to the Europa League.

The new season in the Ukrainian championship will tentatively start on August 23.
