Beginner “Zenith” Mateo Cassierra who moved to the Saint Petersburg club from “Sochi” said he hopes to top the past result in the new season.
The Colombian striker won Russian Championship silver last season with Sochi. At the end of June, Cassierra signed a three-year contract with the Bleu-Blanc-Blues. In a friendly against Crvena Zvezda (2:1), the Colombian scored a goal.
– How fit are you, how long will it take to get fit?
– It hasn’t been a week yet. Every day I feel more and more ready to fully enter the season. Certainly, much work remains to be done. I can’t say I’m 100% ready, but I feel like I’ll be back in shape very soon. I give myself to work and I wait for the official matches.
I know that Spartak is one of Zenit’s main rivals, it’s the clasico of Russian football. It’s important to be as prepared as possible and to be in top form for Saturday’s game.
– Will a goal scored before the presentation give confidence?
– Of course, this will give confidence in their strength. I think I had a good time last season, I expect to top that result in the new season. I want to be always ready for whatever the head coach asks of me,” the striker told reporters during the presentation.
In the 2021/22 season, Cassierra has scored 14 goals and provided four assists in 22 RPL games.
Zenit will play with Spartak in the match for the OLIMPBET Russian Super Cup on July 9 in St. Petersburg.
