Last season, the Portuguese worked with Celta Vigo and managed to save their place in La Liga
Olympiacos officially announced the appointment of the Portuguese as head coach Carlos Carvalhala.
The new position became a birthday gift for the experienced mentor – on December 4 he turned 58 years old.
Carvalhal’s busy coaching career has lasted since 1998. He worked with a number of Portuguese clubs (UEFA Cup and quarter-finals with Braga), as well as with teams from Greece, Turkey (Besiktas, Istanbul Basaksehir), and the UAE.
Twice the Portuguese specialist coached top championship teams – Swansea in the Premier League and Celta in the Spanish Primera. Carvalhal managed to maintain the Galician team’s place in the elite thanks to a victory over Barcelona in the last round, but in the summer of 2023, Celta terminated his contract ahead of schedule.
Olympiacos is in fourth place in the Greek Championship after 13 rounds, three points behind leaders Panathinaikos.
