Egor came on for the last 15 minutes, but did not help the hosts avoid defeat
Manchester city in an away match 23 rounds English Premier League managed to break the resistance Brentford – 3:1.
The visitors created chances from the start, Mark Flekken saved, and then took it and provided an assist. The goalkeeper cleared the goal, no one played the ball on the rebound, and Neal Maupay inexplicably ran off to meet Ederson.
Brentford held on exemplarily, but it was a shame to concede seconds before the half-time whistle. Ethan Pinnock unsuccessfully interrupted Kevin De Bruyne’s aimless cross and gifted the ball to Phil Foden.
After the break, the favorite did not wait long to take the lead. Another pass from De Bruyne was turned into a goal by the same Foden, who was ignored by Sergio Reguilon.
The Bees desperately resisted, they could have equalized a couple of times, but the City defenders fell under the dangerous blows of Christian Nergaard and Maupay. In the end, City finished off the hosts – with a pass from Erling Haaland, Foden easily ran away from the defenders and scored a hat-trick.
Soon after this, Ukrainian Egor Yarmolyuk appeared on the field. I didn’t have time to note anything special. But, one way or another, I already chalked up the 17th match of the season.
The victory, the fifth in a row in the Premier League, allowed the Citizens to move into second place, and potentially into first. Liverpool are two points away and have a game in hand. Brentford, who suffered their fifth defeat in six rounds, remained fifteenth.
On February 10, City will host Vitaly Mykolenko’s Everton. Yarmolyuk’s team will play away against Wolverhampton on the same day.
