Zenit’s Brazilian defender Rodrigao has said he is not a good swimmer, but admitted pool training is important in terms of recovery.
Zenit has been holding winter training camps in Doha since last week.
— Zenit is in the middle of training camp. How do you feel?
– Excellent, even if there is some fatigue. But all this is good to prepare for the resumption of the season. For me personally, these training camps are extremely important also because I missed the last two pre-seasons for various reasons. I really want to put myself in peak condition to be able to help the team 100%.
— You, like any player, probably like there to be a lot of matches in training camps?
– Yes. Training camp games are my favorite part of the training process. There have been more training sessions in Abu Dhabi, and here in Doha we are tested more during matches.
— Part of one of the training sessions took place in the swimming pool. How do you like it?
“I’ll be honest, it wasn’t the most comfortable for me, because I don’t know how to swim well.” But we all have to do what is expected of us, including fitness coaches. In addition, such training is also important: it promotes recovery and general rest. Everyone was laughing and joking, but there was no need to swim. So that was a pretty enjoyable part of the training.
— Was the meeting with Malcolm at the Doha training camp also a psychological outlet?
– Yes of course. Malcolm is the friend that football gave me. We spent a lot of time off the pitch, I remember playing on the console. Moreover, he brought a lot of benefits to the team. Now I support him at Al-Hilal and wish him good luck. And the warm welcome he received here speaks for itself. And he himself, as always, was a walking joy. It was very cool to meet and kiss,” reports a correspondent, reporting Rodrigao’s words.
Zenit will play China’s Shanghai Shenhua in the Tie Cup on Thursday. Watch the live broadcast of the match from 4:30 p.m. on the channel, as well as on the websites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru.
