Shakhtar’s opponent in the 1/16 playoffs of the Europa League decided to change their coach before the second game.
Marseille will be led by a new head coach for the return match of the 1/16 finals of the Europa League against Shakhtar.
According to the official website of the French club, Gennaro Gattuso was fired from the position of team coach. The reasons for this decision were not stated, however, they were not satisfactory results.
Note that Marseille scored 30 points in 22 matches led by the former legendary Italian footballer. In the last match of the French championship, the team lost to Brest (0:1). At the same time, he missed a goal in the last minutes of the meeting, although from the 60th minute Gattuso’s team played the majority.
The club has yet to name his successor. According to Fabrizio Romano, the team will be led by Jean-Louis Gasse, whose contract will be valid until the end of the season.
