The club from Krivoy Rog dramatically lost to Shakhtar
Mentor Krivbassa Yuri Vernidub commented on the defeat to Shakhtar (2:5) in the 19th round of the UPL. The coach believes that the referee of the match Nikolay Balakin could have made a mistake in the moment with the removal of the Kryvyi Rih player Hrvoje Ilic.
“The game was up to 57 minutes. It’s clear that after the sending off it was already difficult for us, and Shakhtar dominated on the field, that’s why the score is 5:2.”
“The moment with the removal? To be honest, I haven’t seen it. And I haven’t watched this moment yet. As I said earlier in the flash interview, if Ilic really stepped on the opponent’s foot with the aim of injuring him, then yes, this is a red card. If the referee looked at VAR and made that decision, then there was probably foul play. But I want to say that yesterday I saw the game between Kolos and Rukh: Bogdanov already had a warning when he grossly fouled, and they didn’t even give a yellow card there, for example.”
“I believe that in matches when teams that are fighting for high places meet, there must be a spirit of the game. The arbitrator must keep this in mind before making such life-changing decisions. If he made a mistake, it is very annoying. In my opinion, Ilic did not foul intentionally. But there is no point in talking about this anymore.”
“This will be a lesson for our team. When you break the rules, don’t waste time apologizing. Our players began to apologize and feel sorry for the opponent. But Shakhtar turned out to be more cunning: he took and quickly played this standard. We will learn from these mistakes.”
“We have a fighting spirit. Everything is ahead. Shakhtar also have missed matches, let them still gain their points, like Dynamo. And then at the end of the championship we will see who will be in what place. What I am sure of is that Krivbass will fight to the end. We must quickly forget this defeat and move on. My guys are great. Tomorrow we’ll forget everything and get ready for the match against Obolon.”
Krivbass has 37 points and second position in the UPL standings. In the next round of the Ukrainian championship, Krivbass will play Obolon. The meeting is scheduled for March 9.
