Earlier, ex-head of the UAF Andrei Pavelko was released
Former Secretary General Ukrainian Football Association Yuri Zapisotsky released from custody.
Let us remind you that at the end of February, the ex-head of the UAF Andrei Pavelko was released. At the same time, the appeal of the former secretary general was rejected by the court that day.
Zapisotsky is one of the two main suspects, along with Pavelko, in the theft of funds during the construction of an artificial football field plant. He was detained in the summer of 2023 and has been in custody since then.
Back in November, the prosecutor’s office completed a pre-trial investigation in a criminal case against Pavelko and Zapisotsky on suspicion of embezzlement of public funds. According to investigators, the amount in question is 26 million hryvnia.
Based on the situation in mid-February, the investigation was already preparing to transfer the case to court, where they would directly consider the case of theft of money during the construction of a plant for the production of artificial turf for football fields.
The UAF considers the entire process to be custom work from former association leaders. In 2018, the “Schemes” program conducted an investigation, as a result of which journalists suspected the UAF and its ex-president Andrei Pavelko of corruption through a plant for the production of artificial fields.
Let us recall that on January 25, 2024, the Extraordinary Congress of the UAF took place. The meeting in the Kiev House of Football took place on time: during the congress, Andrei Shevchenko was elected as the new president of the UAF.
In February, information appeared that the current budget deficit of the UAF is about two million euros. The full financial report is due in two months.
