Dynamo midfielder is on loan in Fortuna
Midfielder Dynamo Justin Lonwijk, which operates on lease in the Netherlands Fortune (Sittard), briefly commented on the situation in Ukraine and Russia’s military invasion of our country.
“All questions are always only about the situation in Ukraine. On the one hand, this is logical. What is happening in Ukraine is terrible. I understand that everyone is interested in asking how it was. But I’m here now and I want to prove myself as a player here.”
The Dutch footballer moved to Dynamo in the summer of 2022 from the Danish Viborg. In the 2022/23 season, Lonwijk played 18 matches for the white-blues in the UPL, in which he scored one goal and provided one assist. His contract with the Kyiv club runs until 2027.
In July 2023, Lonwijk left for Anderlecht on a one-year loan, but the Belgian club is not interested in working with the player. According to Dynamo President Igor Surkis, the midfielder left Ukraine due to fear of war. For the Brussels club, Lonwijk came on as a substitute only three times, playing a total of about 40 minutes.
The player is spending the second part of the season in Fortuna, but the club will not have the option to buy out Justin’s contract. He has one goal and two assists in eight matches for Fortuna.
Early in the morning of February 24, 2022, Russia launched rocket and air bombardments of most Ukrainian cities, and then launched a full-scale military invasion. The war against Russia has continued for the 747th day.
