Carpini explains provocation in the game against Ituano

São Paulo coach, Thiago Carpini made provocative gestures after the penalty goal that guaranteed the tricolor classification in stoppage time of the match

Last Sunday, the 10th, the São Paulo in Thiago Carpini beat Ituano 3-2 (with a penalty converted by Lucas in additions) and guaranteed himself in the next stage of the Paulista championship. After the winning goal, the Soberano commander made provocative gestures to the audience present at Novelli Júnior.

In a press conference, Carpini explained his stance. “There could have been a negative repercussion. I respect Ituano a lot, I know the people who work at the club, the Alberto [Valentim] He’s a personal friend of mine. In no way did I mean to disrespect these people.”began the coach.

The fact is that there were two or three people on the fence, some of the enemies that football gives you. And in a small stadium, we hear everything. Some personal offenses towards my wife, my family. It is not appropriate now to repeat what was said to me, I think my mistake was to respond there at the end of the match”.

Furthermore, Carpini acknowledged the criticism from the fans, but expressed satisfaction with the campaign in the initial phase of the tournament: “The group was complicated, we could have been left out with 20 points. We could be classified today, you know what I’m talking about, in a very different condition. So, break the taboo (against Corinthiansat Neo Química Arena), title of the Super Cupleadership of the group and classification for the next phase, I see a very positive result”.
