The blue-yellows beat Bosnia and Herzegovina in strong style
National team goalkeeper Ukraine Andrey Lunin commented on the victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina (2:1) in the semi-finals of the qualifying playoffs EURO 2024.
“It was a difficult match. The opponent tried to force a fight. We won a lot of fights and made rebounds. It was impossible to give in on this. This was perhaps the key factor in this game against such an opponent and field. So I think it’s a good experience. We showed character and played until the end. But we need to try to win more calmly.”
“Kicking is an important element because the team is trying to play modern football. [Стараемся] do not exaggerate with control of the ball at your goal. We don’t just hit the ball forward. I think that kicking is important for goalkeepers in modern football.”
“Support in Bosnia and Herzegovina? There was always good support at any stadium. It gives positive emotions and strength. It’s one thing when you play at home and it’s a full stadium, and another thing when you play all over the world. In any country we have filled guest sectors. The least I can say is thank you very much.”
In the qualifying final, Sergei Rebrov’s team will play against Iceland. The nominally home match for Ukraine will take place in Wroclaw, Poland, on March 26.
