The head coach of the Ukrainian national team summarized the results of the semi-final play-off match of the Euro 2024 selection.

The Ukrainian national team was not ready for such a game played by Bosnia and Herzegovina, that’s why the semi-final match of the playoff qualifying for Euro 2024 was very difficult. The head coach of the “blue-yellows” Sergei said this Rebrov after the game.

It was very difficult game because the hosts’ defense was very good, so it was difficult to break this line of defense, luckily we won.

Today we played against a strong opponent. They operated with three centre-backs, which had never happened before under this coach. We are ready for it. The Bosnians defended themselves well; it’s hard to break through this wall. We changed the structure and brought a second forward. I think it helped, we scored twice.

Our players tried to put more pressure, we changed the structure a bit. Maybe the Bosnian team is not ready for the structure of this game. Maybe that’s the problem. We created chances in the last 15 minutes, the players stepped up and we won.

I told my players about it before the game. I hope our team has brought some positivity to our people. As you said, there were 30 missiles last night, they fly every day. Our mission is to show that we are still alive, still fighting the Russians, that we still need support from Europe. This game showed the character of our players and our civilization.

The debutants helped the team a lot. Vladimir Brazhko is a young player who played very strongly. As did the substitute Alexei Gutsulyak. The whole team deserved the victory, I won’t single anyone out.

The Ukrainian team will compete for a ticket to Euro 2024 with the Icelandic team, which defeated Israel in the other semi-final. The match will take place on March 26 at the Tarczynski Stadium in Wroclaw, Poland at 21:45 Kyiv time.
