Rebrov: We added another striker and it was a good move

Yaremchuk’s exit predetermined the outcome of the meeting

Coach of the Ukrainian national team Sergey Rebrov commented on the strong-willed victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina (2:1) in the semi-finals of the playoffs of the qualification for the European Championship 2024.

“We played against a very good team. We were ready for it, but until we scored that first goal, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s defense was very good.”

“We added another striker and it was a good move. We expected such a match.”

“Our players in attack made a difference and when the formation and structure of the Bosnia and Herzegovina team was changed, we took advantage of it. Our players wanted to win and attacked as hard as possible.”

At the beginning of the second half, the Bosnians succeeded in their attack, during which Nikolai Matvienko cut the ball into his own goal. The Ukrainians managed to equalize the score at the end of normal time thanks to a goal from Roman Yaremchuk. And three minutes later, Yaremchuk made an effective cross to Artem Dovbik, which brought the blue-yellows victory.

In the qualifying final, Sergei Rebrov’s team will play against Iceland. The nominally home match for Ukraine will take place in Wroclaw, Poland, on March 26. The meeting starts at 21:45 Kyiv time.
