The blue-yellows managed to make it to the 2024 European Championship in Germany
Team coach Ukraine Sergey Rebrov summed up the results of the match with Iceland in the final play-off qualifying for the 2024 European Championship (2:1).
“I am grateful to the fans, even after the missed goal they supported us. We really felt it. I believe that today everyone deserves this victory – our fans, our Ukrainian Armed Forces and our team.”
“Question with the number one of the national team? It is never closed. The question regarding the Euro is not closed regarding any player. It is very important that the players now return to their teams, get practice and prepare for the European Championship.”
“I think this is a very important victory for the entire Ukrainian people, for our soldiers. I am very happy for the players, because these two games were very difficult and nervous. Both before and after the matches we said that these victories are for our country, people, defenders who defend our freedom. Everyone understands how important this victory is.”
The Ukrainian national team beat Iceland in the final of the playoff qualifying for Euro 2024 (2:1). The blue-and-yellows conceded in the first half, but snatched victory thanks to goals from Viktor Tsygankov and Mikhail Mudrik after the break.
Sergei Rebrov’s team will play in a quartet with E with Belgium, Slovakia and Romania. The Ukrainians will play their first match against Romania on June 17.
Ukraine will play at the European Championships for the fourth time. The blue-and-yellows have consistently competed in the finals of the continental championship since 2012.
