Kiev residents are imposing a fight on Shakhtar in the race for gold medals
Kyiv winger Dynamo Andrey Yarmolenko commented on the final segment of the season and the upcoming confrontation with Dnepr-1.
“It’s still difficult to make an analysis of all the games, because there were both good matches and unsuccessful ones. If we want to be champions, we cannot lose points in matches like at home with LNZ, when the game was completely successful for us, we were leading 1:0 and controlled events, but in the end we played 1:1 and Veres, when in the last minutes we missed the victory. At the end of the season, these points may not be enough for us.”
“What do I expect from the meeting with Dnepr-1? Probably a tough game, both for us and for them. We have our own tasks, they have theirs.”
“Our matches have never been easy for anyone, so, I repeat, we expect a serious game. But now every match is like a final. We understand well that if we lose points somewhere else, we can forget about the championship.”
“Of course, the atmosphere that was before in the stadiums and that now is different, but what can you do. Our task is to go out and play football, no matter what happens there.
“I really feel the support of the fans. This is why I returned home. I love and respect them too, so I will continue to give all the strength I have to bring joy to our fans.”
Yarmolenko missed part of the season due to a knee injury. In 15 games, he scored six goals and four assists.
Dynamo had a devastating triumph over Polesie (3:0) in the last round of the Premier League. The capital club is in second place in the UPL, four points behind Shakhtar.
On Saturday, April 27, Alexander Shovkovsky’s team will play away against Dnepr-1, which occupies fourth position.
