Elina won her first victory at the WTA level since the beginning of April
The first racket of Ukraine Elina Svitolina confidently beat the Italian Saru Errani in the second round of the tournament WTA 1000 V Rome (Italy).
The match lasted one hour and 17 minutes. In the first set the fight didn’t work out at all – the Ukrainian didn’t give her opponent a single game.
In the second game, Errani demonstrated decent resistance. She led 2:1, immediately missed a double break point, and with the score 2:5, she performed a fiery rally together with her opponent. On someone else’s serve, Sara was unable to convert five breaks, and in the end, breaking through this resistance, Svitolina ended the match in her favor.
This match was only Elina’s second at the WTA level since the beginning of April. The Ukrainian won her first victory in more than a month (not counting the local success in the match against Romania at the Billie Jean King Cup).
In the third round of the Roman “thousander”, Svitolina joined compatriots Angelina Kalinina and Dayana Yastremskaya. Elina’s opponent at the 1/16 final stage will be “neutral” tennis player Anna Kalinskaya.
