Negotiations stall and Paulinho has an uncertain future at Corinthians

After Cássio’s departure, Corinthians could lose Paulinho, another club idol, due to problems renewing his contract

O Corinthians is close to losing another great idol from its recent history. After leaving Cassio, Paulinho is the only player who was present in the team’s conquests Libertadores It’s from World 2012 and are in the current cast. However, the midfielder’s contract ends on June 30th this year and the renewal does not appear to be moving forward.

According to ‘GE’, negotiations between the midfielder and the São Paulo club remain stagnant, with no progress since the last update. In principle, both parties are motivated to sign a contract extension, but there are a series of differences in the conditions required by each side.

The Corinthians board, even though Paulinho is not one of the players with the most minutes on the field with Antonio Oliveira, sees the importance of the player behind the scenes. As the midfielder participated in the club’s most glorious moments, he is seen as an active voice and gained even more importance after Cássio’s departure.

According to ‘GE’, Corinthians do not plan to offer a much longer contract to Paulinho in this possible renewal, with the aim of keeping him at least until the end of the year. Furthermore, as the cost of the steering wheel is considered high for Corinthians management, a longer contract is not required.

At 36 years old, Paulinho aims to continue playing professionally and, if he doesn’t have an agreement with Corinthians, other clubs have already approached him recently. Teams from Asia, Türkiye and the United States have already shown interest in signing the midfielder.
