In a press conference, Cristiane spoke about Arthur Elias’ treatment of athletes and continues with her dream of a fifth Olympics
This Tuesday, 28th, Christiane held a press conference at the Ruebefore the last tests for the Paris Olympics. With chances of being called up for her last Olympic competition, the 39-year-old striker evaluated the work of Arthur Elias and was very happy with the coach’s treatment of the athletes.
“Arthur doesn’t define much by age, and that’s gratifying. We always say that after 30 (years of age) you are no longer good for anything, and I don’t think he sees it that way. He knows the quality of experience with younger athletes and it’s cool, we can achieve this integration”, he stated.
With four Olympic Games under her belt, Cristiane bears the responsibility of being the tournament’s top scorer, with 14 goals scored throughout these editions. Furthermore, the striker participated in the two campaigns that ended in silver medals, in Athens, in 2004, and in Beijing, in the 2008 edition.
“Although there are girls who competed in the World Cup and the Olympics, we can bring experience from three, four World Cups and Olympics and provide a great balance on the field. Arthur notices this difference and sees how important it is. At certain times, it ends up weighing on the group”, said Cristiane about the more experienced players.
With more than 20 thousand tickets sold for the Women’s team against Jamaica, in Pernambuco, Cris ended the interview with a smile on his face. “I’m very happy to know how much mobilization there was, to have the fans on our side. That counts for a lot. It is important for the Seleção to have this closeness to the fans, not just on television”said.
