The new coach will bring in several new specialists, but will also trust the old core of the club
Head coach Polesia Imad Ashur said that he does not plan to make big changes in the coaching staff and club personnel.
“I am not in favor of making radical changes. This is my personal opinion, but I believe that you need to take care of the club when it comes to electing the coaching staff. That is, first do an audit of those people who exist, to understand their competencies. Of course, the issue of trust can only be understood over time. Therefore, it was decided that a certain number of people from the current or previous coaching staff would remain.”
“And assistant Anton Dyachenko will come with me. There will also be a physical training coach, but he will have a much more important role: it will combine two departments – physical training and the medical department. To have a more scientific approach, and most importantly, a general one. Aimed at ensuring that, under the loads that the players will receive, we prevent or do as much as possible to prevent unwanted injuries. He will be a foreigner and subsequently there will be his introduction. And coach-analyst Bogdan Shirkov will also come with me.”
“Further, we still have a sufficient number of specialists who, in my opinion, have the competence. They have already shown them, we had preliminary communication. If all goes well, we’ll be on the same page. And this will also be the core that will remain in the club for a long time. Coaches can change, anything can happen. But the club must be protected.”
“Goalkeeping coach Mikhail Fedunov, analyst Sergei Pinchuk, one of the physical training coaches Alexander Tkachenko and coach Vladimir Knysh remain on the staff. People from the medical headquarters and administrative headquarters will remain. As I said: I am not a fan of radical changes unless they are necessary. And, based on the analysis of what happened at the club, I do not see the need for radical changes in the headquarters and personnel.”
Ashur took charge of Polesie at the end of May. The Iranian specialist replaced Sergei Shishchenko, who served as coach in the spring part of the season.
Polesie took fifth place in the UPL in the 2023/24 season. Zhytomyr will play in the Conference League qualifications. Polesie will play its home matches of the European Cup in Plock, Poland.
