A re-fight between Usik and Fury is expected on December 21, 2024
Former world champion Timothy Bradley commented on the upcoming rematch between the absolute world heavyweight champion Alexander Usik and former WBC world champion Tyson Fury.
“Tyson needs to move more. As you get older, you do less and less of this work. But Fury needs to catch up because he needs good lungs against Usyk.”
“Fury is like damaged goods. I don’t want to lie, that’s exactly what he is. His ability to take a punch has deteriorated sharply. Usik hit him with his left hand at the beginning of the fight, and Tyson was already staggering. I saw his eyes roll back slightly. This blow knocked him out a little.”
“If Fury makes exchanges in the rematch, he will have some success against Usik. But what happens when Alexander hits?”
“And he’s already been knocked down by Ngannou. How much did he fall during his career? Six or seven times? Tyson no longer believes in his chin as much as before, so he kept Usyk at a distance.”
“Usik is going to make adjustments and make the rematch much easier for himself,” Bradley concluded.
On the night of May 19, Usik inflicted the first defeat of Fury in his professional career in a fight that took place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The victory was awarded to the Ukrainian by a split decision: 115-112, 113-114 and 114-113.
Usik became the first absolute world heavyweight champion in the era of four belts. In the heavyweight division, the last time Lennox Lewis held absolute status was in 1999, but then three titles were enough for this title.
It was reported that an agreement had been reached between Usyk and Fury for a re-fight. The “Gypsy King” has officially activated the rematch option. The second fight between Usik and Fury will take place on December 21, 2024 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).
