Udinese has decided not to renew its relationship with Cannavaro

The 50-year-old specialist previously solved the problem of preserving the Friulians’ place in Serie A

Fabio Cannavaro reported that Udinese decided not to renew the employment relationship with him. The 50-year-old specialist commented on this decision:

“I thank President Pozzo for giving me the opportunity and regret that I could not continue this short but intense journey that, over the last month and a half of the championship, has led us to accomplish a great and exciting task.”

“I would like to point out that there was a desire on my part to continue this adventure in Friuli, a land that has entered my heart just like its people, and for this reason I have unconditionally made myself available to society. I wish the club, the players and the great fans of Udinese every success.”

Let us remind you that Cannavaro took charge of a Serie A club for the first time in his career on April 22. His task was to save Udinese from relegation. Fabio coped with it – he passed the finishing distance of the championship without defeat, and in the head-to-head confrontation of the last round he won a victory over his main competitor – Frosinone.

It was previously reported that, depending on the results demonstrated, the agreement with Cannavaro provides for an extension option. However, the management of the Friulian club decided to part ways with the 2006 world champion.

Cannavaro is known for playing for Napoli, Parma, Inter, Juventus, Real Madrid and Al Ahly. The defender won the UEFA Cup in 1999, and together with the Italian national team became the world champion in 2006. At the end of the same year he won the Golden Ball.

In addition to Udinese, Cannavaro’s coaching career includes Al-Nasr, Tianjin Quanjian, the Chinese national team, Benevento and Guangzhou, with whom he won the Chinese championship in 2019.
