Athletistic / Football. Head coach of the Russian national team Valery Karpin answered a question about a possible departure from the national team. His contract with the RFU expires on July 31, 2024.
“I have not yet received an offer to extend my contract with the national team. There have indeed been preliminary conversations.
There are many nuances in the question of contract renewal: duration, supervision. Once again, the question of the combination with Rostov: how and what will it happen.
In theory and in practice, I admit that the match against Belarus could be my last in the Russian national team,” Karpin said, as quoted by Championship.
Valery Karpin has been working with the Russian national team since July 2021. He combines this position with that of head coach of Rostov. Karpin almost led the Russians to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar – he was prevented from doing so by FIFA and UEFA sanctions, which did not allow Russia to participate in the play-offs for the right to qualify for the World Cup.
